The Mission of the Neuroscience Initiative at the ASRC is to:
- Investigate mechanisms underlying brain development, health and disease using state-of-the-art technology focusing on glial cells
- Solve current challenges in neurological and psychiatric disorders, by investigating the function and cross talk among glial cells in physiological conditions and their alterations in pathology
- Educate and serve students and the local community in West Harlem and New York City.
In line with the overall mission of the ASRC, the Neuroscience Initiative is engaged in interdisciplinary programs with other initiatives and other institutions to implement integrated novel approaches for the study of environmental influences on gene expression, the development of new technologies and advanced platforms aimed at prevention and better health.
